Back online

It’s been a really long time since I showed my face on the web.  Sure, I’m on Facebook and I have email, but I haven’t been writing about myself for a while.  I had the old blog, but I felt like I had nothing to talk about… or that I wanted to talk about, at any rate.

Life throws all sorts of curve balls and I find that I don’t want to write.  That’s probably exactly when I should be writing.

Life has been very good to me this year.  I guess that’s why I wanted to start a new blog.  It’s a different stage of my life from where the last blog had me.  On the old blog, I seemed to wallow.  Now, I’m too busy to wallow and, quite frankly, I don’t want to.

For the past year, I’ve been working with a great group of partners on a new company called Broadburst.  We’re creating Mobile Broadcast Networks and we’re really excited about the potential.  Basically, we send free, relevant content to your phone, enhancing your mobile experience.  I’ll be sure to talk more about this as I continue to write on this blog.

I watched Dazed & Confused last night.  It’s been years since I saw it last and it was as funny as I remember.  I also seem to remember that I identified somewhat with the story and the characters.  I think that’s because I was in my early 20s when I watched it last.  Here were these kids in their teens and feeling opressed by society and those in authority over them and feeling that the way they feel at the time is SO DAMNED IMPORTANT!  Nothing, I’m convinced, has changed much about societal opression.  I think that just goes with being young.  But, I’m a fair bit older now and I see how my perspective on the immediacy of what one feels has changed.

I remember being the same age as the kids on the movie and feeling like my life was RIGHT NOW!  Everything that happened to me was HUGE!  Now, with a few years under my belt, I look back and just shake my head.  I was so young!  You can’t pay me enough to go back to that age.

The soundtrack, it should be mentioned, was as awesome as I remember.

Ah, the arrogance of youth! :)

Welcome (back) to the blogosphere, Sam! Looking forward to much witty and insightful commentary in the days ahead.

The last time I watched dazed and confused I was 18 and stoned out of my tree. Half way through the movie the cops knocked on my friend’s door and hauled me down to the police station to question me about an “incident” I had been involved in. Needless to say, the lines between the movie and reality became very blurry.

Funny, if I remember correctly, I think I actually drove to the police station in my car, following the cop.
